This song was a collaboration between myself and one of my label-mates at the time, Dangerous. This was probably one of the fastest and easiest songs to compose and produce. and still one of my favorites. Dangerouz sent me his stems which consisted mainly of the main percussion drum line you hear in the track, a baseline similar to what you hear, and an awful vocal loop, and the low end piano chords you hear.
When I listened to it though everything was just clicking. I knew right away that I wanted to do away with the vocal, it was something about hot and groove. I didn't know if he was attached to that vocal or not so I wanted to come up with something similar that just sounded better. It honestly took less than 30 minutes to come up with the lyrics, and another 30 to record with the talkbox. And everything just kept clicking. I worked on it all night, and half of the next morning. I think it was around 12-14 hours total. I sent it over and he liked what I had done with it and didn't hear any reason to change anything. I did the mix and master over the next several days, and that's a wrap.
Lyrics
When you work that nine to five,
And you need to let it loose,
You know that the time is right,
You know what you gotta do.
When you're feeling something more,
It's time to make ya move,
Gotta get down on the floor,
When the needle rides the groove.
